Welcome to CaloCook. Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how CaloCook ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application.
By using CaloCook, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Ever.
Information We Collect
When you create an account and use CaloCook, we may collect the following categories of personal information:

Device Permissions
CaloCook requests the following device permissions. You will always be asked before a permission is granted, and you can revoke any permission at any time through your iPhone Settings.
❤️ Apple Health — Read Only
CaloCook reads your step count and calories burned from Apple Health to display your daily activity. We do not write any data back to Apple Health, and your Health data is never shared with third parties or used for advertising purposes.
📷 Camera Access
The camera is used when you choose to photograph food for identification, take a profile photo, or capture a progress photo. The camera is only activated when you specifically initiate an action that requires it — never in the background.
🖼️ Photo Library Access
Used when you choose to upload a photo from your library for food scanning, a profile picture, or a progress photo. We do not browse or access your photo library without your explicit action.
🔔 Push Notifications
We may send you notifications related to your goals, meal reminders, or app updates. You can enable or disable notifications at any time through Settings on your device.
How We Use Your Information
The information we collect is used solely to:
- Create and manage your CaloCook account
- Generate personalised macro-matched recipes based on your goals
- Display your daily activity using Apple Health data
- Enable food scanning, profile photos, and progress photo tracking
- Send relevant push notifications (only with your permission)
- Process and manage your subscription
- Improve app performance and user experience
- Comply with our legal obligations
Subscriptions & Payments
CaloCook offers a paid subscription to access premium features. All payments are processed securely through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's Terms & Conditions. We do not directly collect or store your payment card details.
To manage or cancel your subscription, go to your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Data Storage
Your account data — including your name, email, health metrics, and progress photos — is securely stored using Supabase, a trusted and certified cloud database provider. All data is encrypted both in transit and at rest.

Third-Party Services
CaloCook relies on the following trusted third-party services to operate. Each service only receives the minimum data necessary to perform its function:

Apple HealthKit data is used only within CaloCook to display your activity. It is never used for advertising, never shared with third parties, and never uploaded to our servers. When generating recipes, only your meal request, macro targets, and dietary preferences are sent to our AI services — your name, email, age, weight, height, and health data are never included in any AI request.
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We may only disclose your information in the following strictly limited circumstances:
- When required by law or a valid legal process
- To protect the rights, safety, or property of CaloCook or its users
- To the third-party service providers listed above, solely to operate the app
Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, all associated personal data — including progress photos stored in the cloud — will be permanently deleted within 30 days, unless we are required by law to retain it longer.
Children's Privacy
CaloCook is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete that data promptly.
Users aged 13–17 should use CaloCook only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of any inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and all associated personal data
- Revoke Apple Health, camera, photo library, or notification access at any time via your device Settings
- Opt out of push notifications through your device Settings at any time

Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard protocols (TLS). However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of CaloCook after any changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
